Wages rose 5.9% but after inflation it becomes only 3.8%

According to the report from Manpower Ministry (MOM), wages rose 5.9% last year (a seven year high) from 4.5% in 2006. However after adjusting for the inflation, the actual increase was only 3.8%. Among all the field, service field, espeically financial field done the best, with 10.7% increment.

The median pay for the manager is $6101, professional is $4030. In contrast to the machine operator and cleaner which is $1780 and $968 respectively. So the high earner earns about 4.86 times those low earner.

According to the poll on my site (on the top right corner), out of 20 ppl, their increment is something like:

2 ppl less than 3 percent; 6 ppl more than 5 percent....
