While apps stores will not be the main revenue generators for many handset manufacturers, platform vendors or operators, many of them are jumping on the bandwagon in hopes that their apps stores will help them sell more and keep customers loyal.
In 2008, analysts estimated that sales of these applications added up to less than US$1 billion. However, a report from Juniper Research projects that revenue from consumer mobile applications will exceed US$25 billion by 2014.
